Sorry I don't lknow the answer, but what an intersting question.

I think they are those little side ears on the corns that sometimes has two ears attached on the same stem. They just pick them early. I think they do husk but there is not as much there in the early stages.

Have you ever ate raw corn on the corn? I was trying to eat more raw foods and I tried it and it is pretty good. I also use raw corn in salads and slaws.

Most baby corn commercially available in the U.S. is grown and processed in Asia, particularly in Thailand. Because baby corn must be picked by hand, it is too labor-intensive for most American farms. It's been an extremely important crop in Thailand since 1976, and other Asian nations have also begun producing and exporting it. Perhaps this is why baby corn is so often found in Asian recipes.

Baby corn ears are picked by hand immediately when the silks emerge from the ear tips or a few days after. Corn matures quickly, so the harvest must be timed carefully to avoid ending up with normal corn ears. Baby corn ears are generally 4.5cm to 10cm in length and 7mm to 17mm in diameter.

From a "POPcorn"

No seriously. . .
Baby corn is a vegetable taken from standard maize (corn) plants harvested early, while the ears are very small and immature. Baby corn is typically eaten whole, cob and all, in contrast to mature maize, whose cob is typically too hard for human consumption. It is consumed both raw and cooked. When cooked, its culinary and physical properties (from the point of the human palate) do not change significantly; texture remains relatively the same, as does taste, which is relatively bland either raw or cooked.

Bies with snakes are enivitable. Even tame specimens have off days. Regular soft manage for brief intervals will aid minimise the probabilities of a chew. Had you been dealing with something that possibly regarded meals with out washing your palms? That can reason a typically placid snake to chew, seeing that they odor prey and suppose its a meal drawing near them as a substitute than a hand. Was the snake losing? They have a tendency to be much less tolerant of dealing with in the course of the losing system. One factor I do with all snakes I paintings with is to softly stroke them with a hook earlier than drawing near with my palms. This is helping to situation the animal to assume dealing with as a substitute than meals after they suppose the hook and lessens the hazard of a feeding reaction. It additionally offers me a hazard to check their temper by means of wwatching their response to the hook. If they disturbing up, or cross right into a strike pose I realize there's a hazard that Ill be bitten, so Im additional cautious.
