his neighbor's 8month old beagle puppy ran out of the house when his little girl opened the door. The beagle went straight for the bunnies and the old man instead of trying to chase away the poor pup with a broom or something, goes inside and gets a shotgun and shoots him right in front of the little girl. I found this to be TERRIBLE, being an animal lover I do not see how this man could be so cold hearted to do such a thing. What do you think? do you think that he had the right or not?(forget what any law says because where I live what he did was illegal) What are your thoughts about this?

This is a difficult situation because I work for the SPCA and the rules in my area would have said that if the dog was in his yard and was harming his animals and it was not supervised or controlled then the man would have been within his rights to protect his animals. That does not mean that he had a right to shoot the puppy. He should have called animal control. A 8 month old beagle puppy is very easy to stop and I have a huge problem with the fact that a 80 year old man had a shot gun and fired it with a small child present. What if his aim was wrong and he shot the child? He took the law into his own hands and shattered a little girls heart. The beagle puppy was just being a beagle puppy and he shouldn't have died that way. It is sick. Animals deserve to die with dignity and respect. The adults that owned the puppy should have had a fenced area so the beagle could run freely and not be jeopardized. I hope that they get a fenced in yard after they sue the crap out of the 80 year old man. He should also be arrested for animal cruelty.

Well, really the person who owns the Beagle bears at least half the blame.
If a kid let a dog out and it killed another kid, it would not make it any better. The dog could have killed the bunnies. That is what Beagles do. The reaction was a little extreme!!!!!!

It's a shame. It was a puppy, not a Pit Bull. Was he without his glasses? I would be SO pissed if I were to have witnessed it, nevermind a little girl, as well! There are enough problems in the world, but caring for animals continues to fall by the wayside. Sorry you have to live near that old man :(

To earn someones admire is a few thing of large fee. admire is a few thing that's no longer basically exceeded out freely. admire is earned by way of movements and behaviors. to maintain ones admire interior the path of the years isn't any doubt one in all the superb achievements. i will earn someones admire on a quick term come upon, yet to maintain admire over years of interplay and engagement isn't the finest feat. while females admire adult men, or while a female respects a guy, that guy is a fortunate guy. That guy has finished between the superb presents in existence. the respect and encouragement from females has empowered adult men in the process the an prolonged time to end good issues. no longer basically is it favored while a female respects me, even with the undeniable fact that that's extraordinarily efficient and enjoyed. i be attentive to that the respect of a female isn't some thing it quite is evenly given away.

I do agree with you, but you know others wont... There are leash laws and I have seen enough courtrooms and such to say that he was partly in his right to proctect him and his.

It, I think was very sad that he did this in front of a child, this will leave a lasting impression in this child for a lifetime.

Depends upon the laws where it happened... and according to your statements.. "In my town" and "where I live what he did was illegal"... then I guess it is illegal there? or are you making this up?

some places allow for protection of personal property against predators by lethal force...

also.. was this the first time it happened?

Legally he had no right and could be brought up on charges. We had an issue similar to that here in SC.
