I would never trust either. Chows are not a nice breed. There are many groomers and vets that do not want to deal with them!!

Most pit bulls are friendly to humans but aggressive toward dogs. They were originally bred for dog-fighting--a cruel sport, but they wanted their dogs to be handled by humans but to fight dogs. The ones I've met seem to like every human but to be a bit hostile to strange dogs, even tho they are not trained for dog-fighting. This doesn't mean they are all safe, of course. Chows are known as one-person dogs, they only like their masters. This doesn't mean they will automatically attack a child (I used to climb all over my grandparents' chow when I was a toddler). But ON AVERAGE, I would guess a chow is more likely to bite a human than a pit bull is. The trouble with pit bulls when they do attack humans, especially small children, is that they can be deadly. This happens, tragically but rarely, in the home when the owners have not established sufficient control over the dog.

I would honestly trust a chow over a pitt. I groomed dogs with my sister, never ran into a pitt I didnt like. The chows however were very touchy, I groomed a chow puppy once that would scream and try to bite me every time I touched it. Chows are unpredictible. This sems to be a common trait in most chinese breeds.

She is probably right. Pit Bulls, although bred to fight, were bred to not bite thier human owners in mid fight. Therefor they are normally fairly good with people, not so great with other animals. Chows are extremely temperamental. I had a friend whose ear was sliced by a chow after she was petting it. It didnt bark, growl or anything. Chows are normally one owner or one family dogs. I would trust a pit bull over a chow.

Yes they can be. Chows are very gentle and loving with their families but they can be EXTREMELY protective and aggresive with strangers. I'm a dog groomer who loves dogs and knows how to approach and handle strange dogs but I charge double for chows and pitbulls because they are so unpredictable.

My grandmother used to have chows and one attacked my little cousin and his mother when she tried to restrain him....My uncle ended up shooting the dog. However many think that my cousin was bothering the dog and then the dog snapped. Therefore I think that the chows are very temperamental as are pits, if you leave them be they are okay but when you come into their territory and mess with them is when they are ferocious.

i love both breeds of dogs, my sister has a wonderful pitbull, that couldn't hurt a fly, he's great.... and i once knew a pitbull that tried to attack everyone it saw, so both breeds have the potential i guess. see i had a germen shepard/chow, mix, and for 7 years she was great.... i handfed her from 4 days old. I had my second child, and she changed, the vet didn't know why... she loved us, we loved her, but we had to find her a safer home. I suppose they both can be untrusted for different reason at various times.

i don't think all and sundry with my youthful toddlers. i changed into molested by using my moms acquaintances and a uncle. i do not even believe my youngster's father with the toddlers. Thank god they're older now. they're waiting to speak up and talk to the law enforcement officials too if needed. won't be able to assert no man or woman ought to ever believe, there are human beings accessible that would want to under no circumstances try this. yet you comprehend what I recommend!! Oh, some thing else only because someone is from a church does no longer recommend they does no longer dedicate against the law. Like I suggested, i don't think all and sundry. I educated them properly so that you may knock each and every person nuts if needed!

both chows and pits can be mean, depending on how they were raised. I work for a vet and I have never met a chow that has been nice though, we muzzle them all.
