Is it possible to change your childs last name to the biological fathers last name even if he is no longer in the country and isn't on the birth certificate?

Well I know I would have to go throught the courts and pay for it but would they let me change it even though the father isn't here to prove that he's the father. He wants it done but he's not coming back to america.

His family and him really want him to have their last name and I wasn't the one to fill out the birthcertificate, my mom did and assumed I wanted to use my name. But the father can't come back to the country for reasons i can't disclose to everyone in the world.

Make some phone calls to find out.
Call the hospital and they can probably give you some advice.

God Bless You, ;-)
