You should do what you want to do or you will not be happy with the results. I do agree that you should get highlights but you can ask for them to make the area around the frame of your face, lighter, it will give you a brighter blond look and freshen your hair style, without all the damage. Highlights are best because you can go 8 to 12 weeks without having to get new ones and when you do, you get partial highlights which end up costing less money. Partial highlights just lighten the top layer of your hair which is all everyone will see and what most people do to avoid damage.

I got highlights ONCE about 5 years ago and they've finally grown completely out. My friends have been getting them constantly since I can remember. Too bad I'm the one always getting compliments on my "beautiful, silky, healthy hair." Natural is the way to go. Highlights may look good for a while, but when your hair is dry and frizzy down the road, you'll probably regret them. Btw, dirty blonde is in. =)

I agree with your mom I would go with the highlights. Reason being you will have a lighter color overall with less damage. When your roots grow out (having highlights) it actually looks pretty as opposed to huge chunky very noticable roots with all over color. But remember it is your hair your choice.

If you've never done it before I suggest you go to a reputable salon. I would go for highlights first so you can get used to the idea of the color change. Ask them to choose a natural color but one that would drastically change it for the better. Ease into the color change. They can highlight it all over to is looks like it's dyed, if that makes sense.

The developer on your hair dye wasnt adequate and the outcome replaced into orange. This replaced into the approach in which hair coloration lifts. regrettably your hair stopped lifting coloration mid way because of the developer power. If lack of life from a field, you'll favor to search for organic colors alongside with something with names alongside with 'ash' 'organic' and 'mild' because those are blue bases that counter-act the pink. stay faraway from names like 'warmth' 'golden' or 'honey' because those have pink bases that turn orange. Get a brown coloration with a blue base. you would possibly want to pass darker beforehand you pass lighter back to ease the approach. stay out of any type of chlorinated pool water. as this can trun your hair a greenish tint for a lengthy time period! solid success!

OMG i am the expert on this(sry if i sound bragging ehe,,)
ok i dyed, highlighted, bleached MANY times.
and i'm only 12.
my NATURAL hair color is black, but first i highlighted it dark brown, then dyed it whole like caramel brown, then got blond highlights, then a little more thicker highlights(same color) and eventually looked like i had blond hair, then i dyed it brown..
NOW....
i regret ALL OF THIS.
why?
well when i went to wear my maternal grandparents live(out of country), i decided to get a straight perm.
and there, it is supposed to only take about 2 hours.
one glance at my hair and a little bit of examinations, my aunt's hairdressers there told me that my hair..
was...
RUINED.
yes, ruined. and you don't know how terrified i was when i heard that, since my hair is like....a very important part of my life.
LMAO..
anyway yeah. so i took it kinda harsh but they had to apply like hair medicine, and cure and all the treatments and cut some of the highlights(instead they gave be incredibly pretty layers)..
and the perm?
it took 5 hours.
it was soooo hot and i was like sweating cause of the heat..
but after i got my hair done, it looked SOOOO PRETTY and soft and ...it was REALly smooth and pretty,
NOW i am going to dye it brown, BUT not the chemicaled ones i'm going to use the non-ammonia dye from the organic shop.
its all natural i suggest you do the same thing
good luck and don't get your hair burnt
lol

well, it is really bad for your hair.
I think young people with strong, healthy hair can get away with damaging it, just as they can get away with fattier food, staying up late partying and whatnot. But older people's bodies (including their hair) are not as resilient.
The irony is, older people want to dye it more because of grey, but the hair is not strong enough to not be really damaged! But you, you're young, you don't really NEED dye, but your hair is strong enough to put up with it. So, I'd say go for it.
Unless the fact that the chemicals may be carcinogenic bothers you, because a lot of not-well-tested chemicals are used in the dyes, and they do get into your body from the hair.

I have sandy blonde hair naturally too.I use L'oreal products in med to light blonde, and it looks nice.It does dry out the hair though,so I no longer get perms, and use a lot of daily conditioner.

As long as you go to a salon an get your hair dyed and buy there hair products your hair should be fine. The hair dresser will recommend products and if you use them regularly your hair should look just as healthy as it did before you colored it.

First of all, if you are living in her house and she says no, then abide by her wishes. Now, tell her you are willing to pay for the hair dye and willing to dye it yourself. If she will go along with that, I say go for it. You have to learn by mistakes so if it is a mistake at least learn from it. If it isn't a mistake, enjoy it as much as you can!
