A phycologist is a synonym for algologist. They are scientists who study algae. I suspect that you meant top spell psychologist. The latter is a professional who works with people that have mental problems. But psychologists are not medical doctors that specialise in mental conditions. The psychologist cannot write prescriptions for medication. (pharmaceuticals). Both work with people that have emotional problems.

I have a degree in it, MS in sociology and am a certified counseler for suicide intervention and other crisis events (homelessness, abuse, drugs/alcohol addiction etc) for State Mental Health...if that counts
