wow, way to make me feel old. I'm almost thirty and I just started martial arts this January. 15 is definitely not too old. As for the limp, I'd get started training and see how it goes. If you do all those other activities just fine I'd imagine you'd be fine in karate.

That is the perfect age to start karate because you are fisicaly and mentaly more develope so you will get it serios plus i know people that starts at 30 i am a karate practitioner and i started 13 lots of peoplein my dojo start at 16,30, and even a 46 year old guy ones and hes now a green belts it dosente matter if you feel like it do it

You are never to old to start. But, there is always a but, what is your objective. You said you have a bad limp, Is it permanent?
That may exclude you from sport or tournament Karate but true Karate was never meant for that anyway. Using it to get back in shape or to keep you in a good general health is great or to learn true self defense is also great. I would suggest you go to www.dillman.com. He teaches Ryu kyu Kempo. Look up an affilliated school in your area and look seriously at that. He teaches true self defense and using Kyusho and Tuite you can learn some pretty deep stuff. You limp won't matter at all for you to become very proficient under a good instructor.

Cant doctor do anything about your limp? You may want to see few doctors on that one to be sure.
No 15 is a great age to start martial arts.
If it start to really bother your leg or the instructor won't take you in, go for boxing.
I know you can do either :-) Hope one day you will be successful in one of those or any other martial arts you choose to take.

You're never too old for Karate. I have trained someone in their 70's to a black belt level. It sounds like you may be too busy though. If you really want to do it then go for it.

I have a friend who limps bad, but if anyone tried to fight him he would win the fight, because he practices ninjitsu. He gouges out his enemy's eyes, snaps their legs, break arms and necks. Study under me, and I guarantee you that your limp will disappear. But, I will also give you the best list of foods for a healthy diet, and exercises to do to build your strength. Katas are for perfecting your forms and stances while sustaining balance. Chi, which means power or energy focuses on breathing and power. You will learn how to combine the two.

IF 15 WAS AN OK AGE TO START KARATE, I DON'T SEE WHY YOU COULDN'T RESTART PRACTISING KARATE...I STARTED LEARNING KARATE AT THE AGE OF 15 AND TURNED PRO ABOUT A YEAR AGO(I WAS 17)...SO DON'T MIND THE AGE - IT'S JUST A NUMBER...

Go for it. If the cut off to get into that kind of thing is only after 15 years, that is sad. I'm sure some adults get into it, so go have fun. If you don't do it, in ten years you will only wish you did.

you are not too old, i know someone who started karate at 15 and she is now a green belter. the only problem is your limp, consult your doctor first.
