Be careful of some of these answers...it is high school after all and it would be impossible to convince a school board of some of these musicals!

I would suggest Sound of Music, Anything Goes, Bye Bye Birdie, Hello Dolly, The Pajama Game and No No Nanette.

Typically a high school should go with an older show because the rights are not as expensive to do a show that has been around a long time. That is why you cannot do something like Cats, Wicked...etc. You cannot get the rights.

Cats. After all a good play is all about taking different roles. Whether the cats are played be males or females doesn't matter as it is the mannerism of the cat that is most important. Skip Growltiger's last stand, if you have no operatic singers, but the rest should be doable.

Waiting for the Parade - great drama about wives waiting for husbands to come home during WWII. Also the musicals Nine, and Nunsense.

The first writer offered the best "well-known" options, but you can also take any "man-heavy" material and adapt it to a female cast.

Have fun!

Dream Girls...It's coming out soon and you could look cool before everyone else starts to dig in on it's popularity. Another good one is Gypsy, but it wouldn't really do well in high school without editing

"Little Women", you can change "12 Angry Men" to "12 Angry Women". It used to be that men played women's parts, why not vice versa?
