I read an article in Health magazine about a few reasons why people cannot lose weight. One was thyroid and there was another that I cannot remember. I've been working out everyday for the last 3 months and have only lost about 4 lbs. I've had my thyroid checked recently and my levels were fine.

My real question is what is the other reason besides Thyroid that was mentioned in a recent article in Health magazine. I have been doing 60 minutes of step aerobics/strength training every day - or at least 6 out of 7 days a week. I drink a Slim Fast for breakfast, have an apple for snack, another Slim Fast for lunch and something small - usually a cucumber. Then try to limit my dinners - we eat a lot of grilled chicken.

I am so happy this question was asked. I can help you as I am in the same situation as you are and have had wonderful sucsess. First it is very important, You drink at least 6 - 8oz glasses of water a day very essential. Then make sure you have a fiber breakfast in the morning and eat a healthy proper measured meal three times a day with two fuit snacks , exersixe every day and join a Weight watcher support group. I lost over 50 pounds so far. It is very important to watch amounts and what you eat.It is working for me, and I am also on thyroid meds.Please hang in there, Don't give up. Think possitive. You can do it, I am holding good thoughts for you my friend. if at all possible try to give up sweets. If you can not then try low fat treats

I agree - diet has a lot to do with it. You could work out 7 days a week, but if you eat crap you're not going to lose any weight. Try to include more fruits and veggies in your diet. Check out weightwatchers.com points system. I lost 30 pounds that way.

Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming,running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions,pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull,leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)

Drink more water.

Eat fruit, and veggies.. not potatoes, corn ,etc.


No white bread, only whole grain.

eat every 2 to 3 hrs.

Find out how many calories your body needs then how many it needs to lose weight.

( you could not be eating enough calories..this has happened to me ... I was so shocked! )

So, good luck, I know how you feel..
But,, I know I cheat a lot.

Keep working out, eat healthy and stay stress free. Just keep going, dont give up. Losing 4 pounds is better than losing none.

You may not be getting enough protein to support muscle building which in turn burns more fat for weight loss. Try a higher fiber lower fat and higher protein diet. Best wishes!
