The Bible makes it PERFECTLY clear that homosexuality is SIN! Yet some people call themselves Christians, but say that it's ok to be gay. Look at these verses, and tell what the Bible says.

Romans 1

26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Then a few verses down:

32Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are WORTHY OF DEATH, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Because they don't want to believe that their deeds are evil!
They would rather justify what they do and ignore what the Bible teaches.
An even better explaination may be found in 1 Cor. 6:9-10
It starts out with : Do not be deceived, and goes on to say that homosexuals ( and other sins) will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
They have allowed themselves to be deceived!

Well, could it be because, looking at it from the standpoint of "we are all created by God", that if He created someone born gay, then he made him that way. If God made him that way, could that be a sin? And how many gays do you think would actually CHOOSE such a difficult, judged and attacked lifestyle if it were not as natural an inclination as attraction to the OPPOSITE sex it to the rest of us? A few, maybe -- but not the vast majority.

Also recall the the Bible is a BOOK, which has been translated and re-translated over centuries by whomever was the ruling power at the time to suit that empire's purposes. How much truth remains....?

And how many Christians do you know who are WITHOUT sin themselves?

It is difficult for most people to think objectively about homosexuality, in large part because biases against it are literally of biblical proportions. According to the book of Leviticus, homosexuality--at least when practiced by males-- is prohibited, punishable by death. Thousands of American pulpits to this day repeat the old biblical injunctions, whuch fuel discomfort with homosexuality at every layer of our society.

According to the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and at least a few experts, gays do not have a choice about their sexual orientation. If a man or a woman is born gay,he or she will always be gay.

Does this perspective have merit? Or are religious conservatives correct in asserting that homosexuality is entirely a matter of choice? A wealth of scientific evidence provides an answer. It turns out that sexual orientation is virtually never a black-and-white matter. Rather it exists on a continuum, with both genes and environment determining where people end up.

Bottom line; the vast majority of gays probably cannot switch their sexual orientation, even if they want to. So if nature (or if you prefer, God) has made them that way, it is unfair and pointless to condemn them. They are natural and should be accepted as normal.

It seems a lot of people around here (and the world in general) have their own interpretations of the bible. This reason alone is why there are different sects of Christianity. For every verse you find that condemns homosexuality, somebody else can find some that passively accept it. For people to call you a bigot for your beliefs is pretty sad, though. I mean, people like Greg P are open minded? Who is calling who names here, and without any support to back it up?
Honestly, I believe in the bible, I am not as familiar with it as I wish to be, but I try to live cleanly and follow the word. I believe homosexuality to be a sin, but I also believe it to be a mental illness. In fact, this belief was popular until about thirty years ago. That being said, it is not my place to judge others either, so while I can state homosexuals are sinners, I also have to include myself in the grouping of sinners as well, along with everybody else... except that fellow who can walk on water and such!
Oh, and it seems others are getting confused with your question and telling you to live in Iran; being in a democracy allows you to have your own views on religion and anything else. So long as you're not infringing on the rights of others, you can believe anything you want, no matter how stupid or sage.

The Bible is not the best of references. It is a hodge-podge of various writer's works, and (especially the Old Testament) it speaks of a God that does not believe in the worth and dignity of every person.

Actually, God does not have much to do with homosexuality. In fact, God is way beyond humanity itself - if God exists, it is infinite beyond human comprehension. The Hebrews did not want to pronounce YHWH. TheTao te Ching says "The tao that can be mentioned is not the Real Tao." So neither you nor I are talking about God.

I believe that man-woman unions are more efficient - a single sex act is all that's needed to start a family. But that doesn't mean we need to call homosexuals names (such as "sinner") or deny them the benefits that married couples have. A social, economic, and legal system that systematically discriminates against homosexuals is as much evil as one that discriminates against people based on skin color.

There are plenty of Christians that believe as I do on this matter. Laws against same-sex unions should be repealed and should not be voted in everywhere.

There is a great deal of evidence that homosexuality is determined at birth. Look at all the people who are gay, they come from such diverse backgrounds! It has to be determined at birth! And if that's true, why would God make a man that likes men if that was supposed to be wrong? Also, the bible tells you to love thy neighbor. Therefore you have to respect their beliefs. The Bible also says that people who go against their parents, or have prostituted themselves are worthy of death. Would you have liked to be a teenager and been confronted with the honor thy mother and thy father clause? Do you know how many people would die because of that?

When I wasn't a Christian I didn't think Homosexuality was a sin. BUT I did think that there was no way a Christian could claim it and still be a Christian. There is no way to be a Christian and NOT call a sin a sin. Calling it a sin is NOT ment to condemn the person it is ment to help the person see what they need help in so they can walk closer with God by dealing with the sin. I do the same with any sin in my life and any sin in the lives of those whom I love (and one group of people I love is the lost)

First of all, Girl Wonder, your answer had nothing to do with his question since you aren't a Christian, and you only said if it was right or wrong not if it was a sin.
Now for the question...
Homosexuality is a sin, but mainly for the reason that it involves sexual activities that do not result in procreation. So if you are going to condemn homosexuals, you should also condemn the millions of girls who perform fellation and the the other millions of guys who masturbate. That being said, there is no reason all homosexuals are going to hell. Unless you prefer to believe that all those other people are, too.

Hey Paulian, stop thumping. Why do you claim to be a Christian when you quote the words of Paul? A Christian is one who follows the Christ, the anointed one. Have you been anointed with oil? I doubt it. If you are a Christian, then the red letters are the only ones that matter. Jesus is silent on the topic of homosexuality. Therefore, you should be too. Stop thumping. Jesus tells us not to judge people, but Paul seems to think we should. Why not listen to Jesus and stop judging people? Paul also states that women shouldn't speak in church and should keep their heads covered and submit to their husbands. Does your church do this? Then he upholds slavery, by telling slaves to obey their masters and if their master is a Christian that they should work extra hard. This is why the slave trade occured. This is the reason that the Ku Klux Klan exists. This is why racism still exists in America. This is why all the Native Americans had their land stolen from them. This is why the holocost occured. Do you expect us to believe that all the slaves and all the Native Americans and all the Jews are burning in hell forever and ever and ever and ever, etc? Why would ANYONE on the face of this planet EARTH in the year 2006 believe that ANYTHING that Paul says is true? This man and his letters have caused more strife in this world than ANYONE that has EVER existed in the ENTIRE HISTORY OF MANKIND! And you're going to quote his words to proove your bigoted point of view? And you call yourself a Christian? Why quote a man who contradicts the Christ? If your girlfriend/wife speaks in church with her head uncovered and doesn't submit to you, if you're not eating meat that's been sacrificed to idols, then you are not following scripture to the letter and you are a HYPOCRITE. Christianity has nothing to do with Jesus at all. Stop thumping. And no, I'm not gay, bi, or bi-curious. Stop thumping.

I'd like to see these answers. It baffles me to. I don't hate gays or anybody for that matter. I wonder why a lot of gays keep saying they are hated. Just because someone doesn't agree with their moral choices that doesn't mean they are hated. I love people. If they are gay I still love them but I wish they weren't gay. Most people agree that adultery is wrong. But I don't see a bunch of people telling everyone they are adulterers and getting a group and marching for their civil rights. Adultery is not a civil right and neither is homosexuality. It's not even in the same ball park.

I really try not to get into religion, but the people that are Christians and say that homosexuality it's not a sin, are GAY or have a family member/close friend that is GAY and it's their way of defended them and their lifestyle. And I would bet that every time they lift their hands to pray they are asking the LORD to forgive the person that is GAY for he/she know not what they are doing.AMEN
