I travel to Canada often, since I live about ten minutes From Windsor and I have never needed a passport to go. You need to take a birth certificate though, just to prove citizenship.

I am 23 and traveled to canada last year and i just needed my drivers lisence. a birth certificate should be fine for a 17 yr old. call border to patrol to double check.

I went to Canada and did not need one. I don't think your children would either. But take a birth certificate anyway.
