This is all hypothetical, so act as if it could happen. What if an alien race who had been around for billions of years and had vastly superior technology and physical powers than us, came to Earth as a peaceful gesture to make contact with us and share it’s technology and knowledge of the universe. They were willing to help us better the quality of life for all man kind, but they had to leave because they found out that we still practiced religion, and before they left that they explained that all of the other races in the universe that they had made contact with that still practiced religion died out when they shared their technology and knowledge of the universe with them. They went on to say that religion in any and all forms created a circle of violence in every case that they had witnessed, in over a million species that they have seen. How would this make you feel, to know that the unwillingness to let go of the past, for the future may have doomed the human race?

I would be pretty pissed.... and so would millions of others too. After that, a war would possibly start and end the human race anyway.

Good question. Going by what you wrote the aliens are asking us to believe what they are saying about other civilizations failing due to religion. In addition, they are asking us to believe that they are the only way for us to survive. in a sense they are trying to create their own religion with them as the "god". The difference being, the aliens have physically shown themselves as opposed to sending a messenger, prophet, or other representative.
I'm not sure I would buy it. The aliens arrived at a superior level through technology. They may have the ability to better the quality of life for man; but, they have not demonstrated an ability or desire to better man himself. While different religions will claim that their lifestyle will better the individual as a person, the definition of better is relative. Most worldwide religions tend to operate towards the same goal and core beliefs, just with a different description and name.
In short, if humanity accepted the offer and abandoned all religion, we would be no better off than if we turned them down. I do not believe man could survive without core principles regardless of what they are and religion is the breeding grounds of many positive core values.

Well I would think they were trying to trick us. C.S. Lewis once asked what OUR responsibilities should be if we found an alien race. Think about it God has said HUMANS need Jesus but what if God made other races did he save them some other way? They may have all died off for a reason and they are probably all in there heaven. It is more likely that any race we meet will say that the only thing that ever meant anything was worshiping God (like king Solomon found out read ecclesiastes)

How do the aliens define religion? Religion is hard to define even for those who study religion here on Earth. Does religion require an organized belief structure? An unquestionable dogma, given to you by someone (perhaps a higher power or deity, although some Eastern religions would dispute that) who claims to know the unknown, that you must accept? Does acceptance of this dogma lead to a wonderful, blissful future while rejection leads to pain, suffering and death? If that sounds like an adequate description of religion, it also sounds a lot like what these aliens believe. They come to us, presenting themselves as a higher power, with a definite dogma, an uncompromising belief structure about the fallacies of "religion," promising wonderful knowledge and technology and threatening us with suffering and death if we don't repent of our religious ways. They can even maintain a moral high ground by saying we sentence ourselves to this "hell" by rejecting their offer (which is also often said about those who reject the Christian God). They contradict their own findings, in that they themselves follow this religion of denial yet still have survived-- if this suggests denial of what you are and what you believe is necessary for survival, I think the truth is more important. We'll find our own way, thank you very much.

Thinking OUTSIDE the box for a minute, "what if" we were put on this planet by an alien race, or a group of different alien races, and they later came back and say that we were really messing things up and decided to give us some pointers and guidelines to live by so we would NOT die out - and the name one the spaceships was G.O.D. (Galactic Organizational Department). Thus the story of God came to a people that thought spaceships were "Chariots of Gods" and Aliens were "Angels" and the loudspeaker was God speaking to them.
hmmmmmmmmmmmm?
But WHO created the aliens? Or what?

As a Christian I would say that it was a trick of Satan! Besides people kill each other for lots of reasons other than religion. I mean when there's a will there is always an excuse. I don't know how we could get rid of all forms of religion. People who don't have a belief system that includes a "Higher Power" seem to have a belief system of some sort that worships something, seems to be a natural trait in humans. I have heard this tendency referred to as the "God shaped hole in their heart." (Heart being an euphemism for their soul, conscious etc.)
Let me rephrase your question a little to give you the answer you may be looking for. If the human race died because I wouldn't give up my faith I would be sad for the people who never came to faith before they died. I would just have to assume it was God's will though.

I'd have to regretfully decline the aliens offer--it comes with strings attached. Also, the view that you have painted about religion is very narrow. Not all pious religious are rigid & fundamentalist in their views. The continuum is broad with a diversity of expression.

Well first of all, if I'm gonna be dying I'd rather believe in my God and know that I will be somplace wonderful when I go than let go of him never knowing that when I do die, I could go with the aliens? Give me a break. God is superior to an Alien race who knows everything and will kill us. If we die, I'm going to heaven to be with my Savior! Goodbye Aliens.

i would say that we'd have to continue improving our technology the hard way...and i might wonder if their technology might have something to do with the destruction of the other species, since their doom had come only AFTER their receiving the alien technology...and i would remember that God created them, as well...and i would remember, as the angry hordes came with their torches and pitchforks because they weren't gonna get their personal hovercrafts and really cool shiny clothes, that what Paul said thousands of years ago still rings true: "for i am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord"

Mainly, you,re talking about the antichrist, aren't you? I've read that some people believe he will come in the guise of an alien from another planet or galaxy. Is that where you got your question from?

I agree with you dude, but you're pretty much answering your own question. Try asking it again, but leaving some room for conjecture.
And PS: Religious types are far too stupid to think 'Outside the Box'.
