If you were never told of God and their was nothing that gave any indication of his existance would you still believe? It seems the only reason you believe in god is because of other people or is there another reason for your belief, did he come for tea one day?

Romans 1:20 tells us that God has made Himself known in his creation to all people so that no one will be found without excuse.
You can believe in God without knowing His name or what the Bible says SPECIFICALLY about Him.
I do believe that a person living on a deserted island for their entire life, though he may not have anyone person tell him of God and the Bible, can believe in Him.

This is very very good!!!

People believe what they are taught - by parents, teachers, role models, observation, experience and the society they are raised in. What if all those people were taught incorrect things and innocently passed that information on to us?

The sad part is, we think our technology is so advanced that we have all the answers, and yet scientists know that in time we will create new technology that can measure and prove things we doubt to be true now.

I cannot say with 100% conviction that it was God's hand on my shoulder that guided me, when no one else was around me, but I felt the hand and I knew it was something. The wise question things, but never discount the possibility that there are things beyond our comprehension, our ability to see or test, because after all we are mere mortals, constantly in a state of growth in knowledge.

Why do I believe? IF there is a God and I believe, I've got it made, if I don't I'm screwed. If there is no God, the only persons time I've wasted is my own.

Well it would be kind of hard to believe if you were never told about God. There are signs of his existence every day. Okay so it isn't some grand techicolor sign like some people think they need to see. Its a whole lot simpler than that. For me all I have to do is walk outside and look at the trees, birds etc and know God exists. Im very strong willed and nobody is going to tell me what I have to believe. I feel it in my heart and soul that God exists and thats good enough for me.

All who believe in any sort of God would probably share my belief that yes we would still believe. So this doesn't apply to a Christian God but any concept of a "god".

Ancient civilizations worshipped gods even before there was a modern language, paper, written word, etc. Those gods may have changed in some ways over the years, but the essence of the belief in a higher power is and has always been a part of mankind. Some choose to deny it, but yet even they still question the "meaning of life" which means that somewhere deep within they think there is a purpose for us.

That is sad that noone ever taught you about God but it is never too late.In fact, God WANTS you to come to know him because James 4:8 says:"Draw close to God and he will draw close to you."So that is an invitation from him to get to know him. Also,God has a name.If you look in Psalms 83:18 it says that his name is Jehovah. There are so many wonderful benefits from studying the Bible. If you have no background of Religion at all then it must be hard to know where you should start.Though we always get a bad rap,Jehovah's Witnesses offer free home Bible Studies to help you in your search for answers. Our goal is not to convert, but to educate and help you make the best decision based on the Bible. You can call your local Kingdom Hall and ask anyone there to stop by your home for a free Bible Study. The worst that can happen is that you will be educated about the Bible and that is a pretty good deal to me.I hope I have been of some help to me.I wish the best to you in your search for Truth.

He comes for tea and other things quite often. I believe in God. My belief does not lie on the beliefs of others. I know how to identify the feeling within me as him because I have been educated about him. I know that God is someone that lives in me. All of my life I have felt his presence and at first did not fully understand it. Each day I live, learn, and understand more and with that comes a deeper understanding. Knowing God is an ongoing feeling. It is like knowing someone close to you. Once you build a relationship that strong with someone, it is none other than real. But before I had that strong relationship, I had myself and so called luck. There were things in my life that happened in my favor that I sometimes called luck and sometimes I gave myself all the credit. But just like the old saying goes.... try HIM. Once I began to know him and began understanding how he works, I started to see right before my very own eyes how he IS in control. But again, that came from the deep relationship that I have with him. People going around quoting the bible and telling everybody about him is one thing. For someone to know that he is real is for them to know HIM. The only way to do that is by talking to him and including him in your life. Once he is there you will know it. You will also know that it is FOR REAL.

That is an interesting question. The reason I have come to know God has to do with this scripture, Romans 10:13-15
For “everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved.”  However, how will they call on him in whom they have not put faith? How, in turn, will they put faith in him of whom they have not heard? How, in turn, will they hear without someone to preach?  How, in turn, will they preach unless they have been sent forth? Just as it is written: “How comely are the feet of those who declare good news of good things!”

And yet, if there was no one to tell about God, Jesus indicated that “, If these remained silent, the stones would cry out.” (Luke 19:40) However, it is not necessary because people who love God do not hesitate to talk about him.

I would still believe in something, not God himself if I had no indications of his exsistance. But just the belief of something higher is out there is what gets me by. Would we still know of Jesus, the holy ghost, and the saints? Because if they are still around, then there really isn't the need for God to believe, they can carry out his word without him.

I know very well how foolish the message of the cross sounds to those who are on the road to destruction. But we who are being saved recognise this message as the very power of God. As the Scriptures say

"I will destroy human wisdom
and discard their most brilliant ideas".

So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world's brilliant debaters? God has made them all look foolish and has shown their wisdom to be useless nonsense. Since God in His wisdom saw to it that the world would never find Him through human wisdom, He has used our foolish preaching to save all who believe. 1 Corinthians 1 v 18 - 21

No, not tea. It was actually appetizers at Applebees. And I have it on good authority that God prefers Cappuccino. Haha.
Yes, I would still believe. Even cultures that never heard my gospel preached still sensed something larger than themselves. That's why islanders all have their own belief systems of a god who they worship. While I believe they do not worship MY God, they did realize through creation, something beyond themselves.
