Everybody complains about the cameras, but ... HOW ABOUT NOT RUNNING THE RED LIGHT?

People are pissed because they got caught breaking the law. The freakin' traffic lights are not decorations, folks!

And if you let your friend drive the car and screw up, don't blame the red light camera. Just beat the crap out of your friend for doing it in your vehicle, and then thank the Lord that friend didn't get your car in a wreck while breaking the law.

Boogerman: Most red light cameras also record speed for that very reason.

That's when I need a clone! Try to stop at red lights from now on. It's cheaper than speeding on through. Just pay the fine and don't run red lights anymore. Ask if cameras are on the schedule to be put up in other places around the city. It could be the west side is a trouble spot.

A useful tool. The majority of city accidents are because people run lights.

Since you will know WHEN the picture was taken, you should know who was driving if it wasn't you. Then you can go after them for the money.

On the up-side, it's treated as a parking ticket on the car's record, rather than points off your license (since it's nabbing the CAR, rather than the driver).

Oh - and should any of your friend get one - don't loan the car to them.

Sorry, I agree with the camera thing. Running red lights is very dangerous and irresponsible. If you lend your car to someone, then when you get a ticket it must give you the date and time, so make that person pay. I would not keep lending my car to a person who would do this.

I live in Germany. Here they have cameras that take your picture if you are speeding. I hate them. For a couple of months my husband and I were getting ticket after ticket in the mail(and they are in Euros so that really bites considering what the exchange rate is), even though in general we don't go speeding around. We've gotten better, although every once in awhile we forget and get busted by one. And sometimes they will temporarily set up cameras in new places, and they are shorter than the permanent ones and they hide them in the weeds so you don't see them until it is too late.

car ownership is a responsibility..if you cant trust the person to follow the rules of the road then you shouldnt loan it out... red lights are there for everyones safety.. if people wouldnt run themthere would be no reason for the camera

It's a scam, what if your car broke down in the middle of the light, would you get 100 tickets?

Very discriminating indeed. Those poor people. It's their RIGHT to run red lights, by God!
