Try getting a Tens (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator) unit. It works by blocking the pain signalas in the nerves electronically from pads placed on the skin surface, not using drugs.

You could also try hypnosis to help you subdue the pain.

Advil is an over the counter drug, so if you are on a prescription, it must be something else, possibly stronger. If the pain is now gone, I would see my doctor to see if I could stop the medication. Let him/her know of the apparent side effects. I know many years ago, a doctor prescribed Librium for me, and I went into a deep state of depression with the drug. It wasn't until I saw him a month later that he realized I could not take that drug. Having bad dreams or thoughts of suicide are serious enough for you to question your medication. Let your doctor know. He can help you!!

Good Luck!!
