Is oatmeal a good source of complex carbohydrates? Also, which food group does it fall into? Another thing, what kind of sugar substitute can i use with it (no way i can eat it just plain with milk, has to have some sort of flavor to it).

Oatmeal isnt incredibly good for you, however the healthiest
kind is the old fashioned kind, not the "instant " stuff.

The kind you have to cook for a while. To get the maximum
benefit from your oatmeal soak it in water over night and
put a little whey in the soaking water ( whey is the fluid
on the top of yogurt)

As far as a sugar substitute? Are you talking about fake sugar?
Please listen to me do not consume fake sugar, especially
splenda or any of that crap...it is toxic and it is pioson,. Dont
listen to them.

The best thing for you to use is Stevia, it is a plant souce
and actually has medicinal properties, any health food
store should sell powderred stevia. Otherwise i would
tell you to use honey since its so good for you but, im
assuming you are a diabetic.

so remember.

1. Old fashioned
2. Soak in water/whey (about 2 tsp)
3. Cook slowly
4. Use stevia and only stevia

there are alot of other grains out there you should try
If you have a whole foods market or a trader joes go
ave a look at the selection

Oatmeal is very good for you-good complex carb-falls under Grains -you can use severin(no calories,no saccharin no aspartame etc.comes from a plant -available at any Health food store usually 50 packets in a box---Oatmeal is fiber and lowers bad cholesterol)but any sugar substitute is OK as far as giving sweet taste to it. Can use honey but requires about 2 tsp to sweeten a bowl and adds quite a few calories. Oatmeal can be eaten just about every day as long as you use skim milk. Its also recommend by Pearlier-Dermatologist/MD advises the stars on good skin and to slow down aging. Enjoy

Sure, it's good if you don't have Celiac Sprue. Complex carbs are better in combination sources, such as veggies and pasta.

Food group:Cereals and grains.

Sugar substitutes: I like Stevia, because it's natural, but I only use it in tea. I don't eat oats. But if I did, I would not find anything to help the flavor of oatmeal without sugar. There is honey, if you want to consider that a substitue, usually requires less since it's concentrated. One thing some of my friends do (and I do this too with rice cereal) is add raisins and fruit. That way, it gives it a little more texture and color, as well as the natural sweetness of fruit!

OK, get tough oats, or steeel cuts they're MUCH nicer, or get the mulitgrain ones. Cook them in water SLOWLY on range most sensible. Not rapid. Get a bowl and positioned a few peanut M&M's within the backside. Pour the oatmeal on most sensible midway up, then pour on VERY thinck cream. Then pour a few brown sugar on , and fill with extra oatmeal.Top that with butter, and brown sugar and a few extra heavy cream. Add M&M's to the highest. Another method- prepare dinner tough metal oats in water in a pan. Meanwhile slice a peeled apple and saute the slices in butter in a small pan. Add brown sugar, and cinnamon to the apples. After approximately 4 mins, and while the oatmeal is cooked- pour a few right into a bowl, then upload a layer of apples, most sensible the apples with a layer of oreos, and upload extra oatmeal. Top with the the rest of apple slices, and an extra layer of oatmeal. Cover with heavy cream or coolwhip, brown sugar and allow leisure for a minute earlier than consuming. Lastly- and this fashion is relatively well- slice a banana and upload powder sugar to the slices. Drop the slices right into a bowl and upload oats and water. Microwave ninety secs and go away to chill. Add powdered sugar on most sensible and condensed milk.

Yes, oatmeal is a good source of complex carbs, and of fiber as well. It should make you feel full, and keep you feeling full for a while.

I don't care for the stuff myself, but I think it would be best just to use a small sprinkling of brown sugar, considering the amount you would put on it and the fact you only eat it once a day, why use a substitute, just go for the real thing.

Oatmeal is a grain. I like to fix mine with a bit of brown sugar and cinnamon.

If you want a sugar substitute, some people reccomend stevia- but stevia is far sweeter than sugar, so you shouldn't use as much of it. Or else you could try raw sugar, found in the organic food section of some grocery stores.

Of course Oatmeal is good for you. It falls under the breads and oats group. It contains lots of fiber that is good for dietary digestion, which can help prevent colon cancer. I like to use Splenda as a sugar substitute. It is derived from sugar so it doesn't have aspartame, and it doesn't have that funky diet flavor that sweet and low has.

Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming, running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions, pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull, leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)

Oatmeal is one of the best for you, it helps lower cholesterol. A good way to sweeten it is with some fruit like a banana or some berries.
