can hunt a squirrel with a 22cal long rifle or a shotty. I use a 22 and usually get head shots. there very good eating but you have to get a few for a descent size meal. you could also trap em. check the game commission site for trapping and hunting seasons for squirrel. as for birds do mean waterfowl? like gees or pheasant, sorry don't know anything about hunting them.

havaheart traps sold at feed stores and coops work great for squirrels..for birds i use a wood frame box 2' x2' x1' covered with wire mesh.prop up one side with a stick use fishing line tied to stick to trip the trap,bait it with seed,bread ect..hide wait till birds are under it pull string..works better if you bait trap site for a few days with trap down to get birds used to it.catch alot of pigeons this way.

you can buy a cage at home depot to catch a squirrel,about a bird that's another story,we caught a bird by accident in our squirrel cage I guess he just flew in.

I would just shoot it, you can use a great .22 caliber rifle or the shotgun of your choice... squirles are fun with a 410 guage.
