i have 40lbs to lose and i plan on buying the nutrisystem meals that i know you are supposed to suppliment with fruit and veggies.
i need the convenience of not having to prepare meals as i am very busy right now and need the ease of prepared diet meals. anyway i'm wondering can i drink diet sodas like "fresca"? i only usually drink water and nothing else, but i do love fresca and it is sugarless. i have heard that the "fake" sugar is bad for a diet and that the carbonation is not good also? i love water, but it does get boring and where as soda isn't as refreshing as water is is a nice change and tastes good. anyone else out there that has done nutrisystem and has a slow thyroid like me? has it worked for you? i find it very hard to lose weight with hypothyroidism even while taking replacement therapy. just curious.

I've looked into this diet and I feel that it's way too expensive for the convenience of pre-portioned, cooked meals. You can do better by getting these from the grocery store.

I didn't like Lean Cuisine, thought they tasted like cardboard.
I thought Healthy Choice meals tasted better, although they may be a little more expensive.
The only thing this type of diet teaches you is portion control.

As for the water, studies show that if you drink diet pop quite a bit, you will actually GAIN weight. Scientists theorize that your fat cells think you are starving them, (I didn't know they were that smart), so they cause you to retain weight. (mostly water weight that is hard to get rid of). Also, because of the benzoate in them, they have been known to cause cancer.
The artificial sweetners in them aren't good for you, either.

I am a huge water drinker, but I add TONS of ice and fresh squeezed lemon or lime to mine It is more refreshing than diet pop and quenches thirst better. Plus w/the lemon, you are cleansing your kidneys.

Also, you can buy club soda or water and use lemon and lime if you must have carbonated beverages.
Other options are iced tea, fresh lemonade, etc..
I stopped drinking diet coke a few months ago and have finally lost nearly 10 lbs.. The carbonation and sodium will cause you to retain the weight.

I am a Fresca fan, also. But you would almost have to go to something like Diet Rite cola that has no sodium in it, but I think it has artificial sweetner, That's why I stick w/water, iced tea, or Crystal Light.

Good luck finding a diet that works, because they are just a waste of money!

Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming, running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions, pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull, leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)
