Don't worry too much about being cool and popular. If you have friends then you are cool and popular with them. Don't establish a bad reputation for yourself. Some things you do in middle school follow you to high school. Do the best you can on your school work and establish good work and study habits for yourself. If someone is bullying you and you can't handle it yourself don't be afraid to ask someone like a friend or teacher for help. In general you can have fun and be with your friends but also remember that some things follow you for a long time and you should look to start good habits for schoolwork.

Kids that age can be cruel. Be nice to the ones who take most of the crap from the stuck-up nasty kids - it will make you a better person.
The best thing about middle school is that it only lasts 2-3 years.

Kids are mean in middle school. It's up to you to decide if you want to be one of them. You can commit social suicide by any number of things - you have to decide if it matters to you. Your teachers will try to train you to succeed in middle school academically - listen to them. You will be a different person when you go there than when you leave because a lot of your growing up is going to be done in those three years. Good luck to you.
