She wants out, then she wants in and so on. Only in one place 1-5 minutes. I won't leave her out because I don't want her barking and bothering people. I took her for a short walk. It was short because she is hyper and wouldn't stop pulling and my arm hurts (tennis elbow). What else can I do with her INSIDE that will make her happy AND not hurt my arm? She is a 7 month old Golden Retriever.

You might try taking her for a couple of long walks a day. Once in the morning before work and another when you get home. She also gets bored and needs a lot of things to chew on so get some new toys and chewies for her.

Your dog is just young and very active. you have to make sure that she gets to use up some of that stored energy. try taking her somewhere where there's less people or maybe hiking and just let her run loose unless she's the type to just take off. then like i said find somewhere you can let her run without loosing her. This might not be for you but maybe a second dog in the house would do the trick. then they could play with each other.

This breed needs lots of exercise. Get her to a trainer to help you teach her to walk properly on a leash without pulling you. Probably at least 30-45 minute walks will help.

Throw a ball and let her run after it. You can do this INSIDE, depending on how big your house it, or if you have a long hall way. You can always throw with the arm that doesn't hurt, since you dog doesn't really care how good you throw.

One of my dogs loves "ball". I have to hide it from her, or she'll want me to throw it 10 hours a day.

she is a large breed puppy and wants to be active, why did you get such a high maintenance dog if you were not up to keeping up with her? She needs obedience training, which she will enjoy and to walk on very long walks. Tossing a ball in the house will not satisfy this dogs craving for activity. Don't be surprised if she starts to chew stuff that you don't want her to chew. She is bored!!

I had a yorkie problem with Mr.Spock pulling on leash all the time...even a 9lb yorkie can give your wrist, elbow, and shoulder a bad ache... at Pet Smart they have a special collar to train dogs not to pull...in out in out just means there needs to be a schedual. First thing in am after meals, later in day, and beore settleing down for the night.

a golden retriever is a large dog with a boisterous activity level. they need regular and rigorous exercise to maintain proper health. if you aren't prepared or capable of giving that to your dog then perhaps you should consider giving her to a family that can and getting yourself a lap dog with a low activity level.
i'm not looking to be rude. i just want to see animal's in their proper placements. dogs are social animals who need a loving home that is appropriate for the breed. if the dog needs more exercise than you can give then that's not the dog for you.
don't punish that dog for doing what comes natural. that's like me asking you to stop breathing and eating.

Buy a choke collar, Dog Whisperer DVD's and train this dog.

I have very large dogs and no elbow problems.

My dogs to the same thing, especially my jack russel. My pit loves to stay outside and soak up the rays! :)

I would let your dog stay outside for a while, even with the barking. She's a dog; it's what she's supposed to do! Or with her inside, does she like toys? My dogs chew on rope toys or try going to PetSmart and see what they say!! :)

Stop humoring her. If you lay down the law and only let her in/out in a reasonable amount of time, she'll eventually settle down. If you keep being a pushover and doing whatever she wants, she'll keep asking you for it. ;)

Dogs are smart, my German Shepherd knows just what to do to get his way sometimes.

keep her out there! ignore her when she barks! everytime you answer her cries and let her inside you are showing her that she can run all over you and can do whatever she wants. Try taking her to training and go to Petsmart and look at the collar aisle and there is a collar that sprays orange scent that only they can smell each time they bark.
