Because most of the time, a single typical fast-food meal usually contains the number of calories a person normally eats in one day.

One average meal at a fast food restaurant gives you enough saturated fat and calories for an entire day. It is not necessarily less food than an actual home cooked dinner, but the fries are deep fried, and there is a lot of grease, cheese, sugary foods, and "super-size options" that you would not get at home. For example, most people would not drink a liter of COKE with their dinner.

First of all, its not just the eating that makes someone fat (it helps but eating is not the only culprit). It is the lifestyle such as NOT exercising that makes someone fat.

Second, fast food helps because it has wayyyyyyyyy toooooo much calories, a lot more than an average human is supposed to have in a meal (sometimes even in an entire day). So obviously, if you are taking in a looooooooooot of calories and not burning them off, you body is going to save them (because it is designed to do so by nature ) most likely in the shape of fat (because fat is the most effecient form) and you will become fat.

It is not the actual amount of food that matters. Its how many calories you are intaking.

Eating an entire watermelon by yourself is much much better than eating a spoonful of sugar.

It doesn't make everyone fat. The people who are fat are not that way just because they ate fast food. They eat junk in general, don't exercise, and don't take care of themselves. I can eat fast food now and then with no problem, because I am active, and I work out at the gym constantly. It's lifestyle.

Fast Food doesn't make you fat, it depends on what you eat. But fast food has a lot more calories than home made food (home made food is the healthiest thing that you can eat)

All of the above answers are correct, fats, oils, white breads, deep fried, fried on a grill full of grease, yuck! You'd be surprised how awful these taste once you've been away from them, just full of grease!
You have a better chance of staying trim cooking at home, where you can control what goes into your meal. Subway is always a good option too.
