And if magic is of the devil, why does the bible honor the Magi (magicians) from Persia for using their astrology to find and come worship the baby Jesus?

The Magi were not magicians. They were Astromoners, one reason they noticed something strange in the Heavens. The Magi didn't get to Bethlehem until a couple of years or so after Jesus was born. Herod intercepted them and told them when they found the Baby, come back and tell him so that he might pay homage to him. The Magi saw through the ruse, and went back a different route. That is when Herod had all the male children two years and under slain.
