In my opinion, no. I have a few reasons for this. One, Ajax does not address the layout/GUI (Graphical User Interface) of the web application. It only handles communication with the server. Flash does both. Two, the Flash approach is being adopted by Microsoft in their new Vista OS. They will be including a plug-in based RIA (Rich Internet Application) tool that is very similar to Flash Remoting. This should actually intensify the use of Flash once people see the abilities that plug-in based RIA applications have.
