Taking a wild stab in the dark, and of course not sneaking any peak at the previous 12 identical answers to this question, I would have to hazard a guess (and it is a shot in the dark) that the answer is something to do with Grandfather, father and son. Am I right?

Because though very articulate, & big for his age at 2' 6": the four year old boy was still, 14 years too young to be sold a pint of lager, & the landlord did not wish to loose his lisence!!!
