I have to agree with hematoma, which is indeed a blood clot, not a bruise. Actually you can have a hematoma anywhere in the body but one in the brain is called intracranial hematoma.

I think it could be your 'hypothallamus'
It isyour hypothallamus gland that's connected to your 'pituitary gland' . These two glans instruct your thyroid gland to generate hormones, peptides and adrennelin among other things.
