Typically statutory rape laws are two part. For example the victim must be under 18 AND must be 2 years younger than the perpetrator.
But it does depend on the state you live in. Go to the link below for more specific information about your state
If you are in KY the age of consent is 16, so you have nothing to worry about

Hi,
if you are within the state of Florida, you are a minor, except under specific circumstances, until the age of 18. Here is a link to Florida state statutes which gives all reasons you would be considered an "emancipated minor" or basically make your own decisions, etc. Examples: Married minors, pregnant minors, court ordered as an adult, certain jobs, etc. Hope this helps and be aware if you don't fall under any of those terms listed in the statutes, the state or your parents could file charges of statutory rape against your boyfriend (and against your wishes). It would be up to the State Attorney's Ofc to continue with charging you...meanwhile his criminal record will never be cleared (unless expunged by use of a paid attorney) even if dismissed or found innocent as the criminal check does not show guilt or innocence but only arrests made. Very unfair I know and actually I am a believer in names and pics not being released to the media UNTIL the person is found guilty (as no matter what....it will effect that persons life whether guilty or innocent. Anyway hope this helps you. http://www.flsenate.gov/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=Ch0743/titl0743.htm

It depends on where you're at, some states have the legal age of consent at 16. Others are at 18 it all depends.
If you're good for each other, and you're both happy with each other, good for you.
Most people aren't so lucky, which is why there are so many unhappy singles & divorcees out there in the wide world.
Good luck and may you both live happily ever after!!!

What's the rush?
Crimanetly! You're going to live till you're about 75 or 80. Why waste your youth on the first 17 years of your life. Make it last as long as possible before you dive into all that responsibility?
And he's a dope if he wants to risk his reputation and record on a minor.
True love is willing to sacrifice and wait.

Kentucky age of consent is 16, you already passed the illegal mark for your state.
In the eyes of federal law sweetie, it is unfortunate that you will be illegal without parental consent...

It depends on where you live. States have different laws regarding "age of consent".
Besides just thinking about having legal sex, have you both considered what to do if you should become pregnant by accident? Just a point to ponder...

I believe in the state of KY all you have to have your parent's consent if you are both past the age of 16 otherwise you have to wait until both of you are 18.

If you're really worried about it, abstain for 3 months and 21 days.

Are you asking would it be illegal for sexual congress to occur between you two when he is legally an adult and you are a minor?
Yes. A minor cannot give consent.
