my neighbor looked at me like I was crazy cause I said I rarely eat at McDonalds and my kids had no idea what a happy meal was. do you normally eat at mcdonalds when was the last time you ate that crap?

About the only times I eat at McDonalds is if I am almost flat broke and starved or about once or twice a year just to eat somewhere different fast food wise. I am not a big McDonalds fan. I love good home cooking but have a habit of hooking up with women who don't cook it seems :( Nobody not even me eats MY cooking twice by choice. After a week of mac & cheese, microwave food and stuff out of cans fast food tastes downright good. I tend toward Whataburger, best food and most food though costs a bit more. Wendys is good. Local burger joints often have the BEST burgers, but you have to find a good one. Some are not better than microwaved stuff. Arbys is good every once in a while.
Happy meals are a rip off. I rarely get my kids a kids meal because there's almost no food in them and the toys are forgoten 10 by the time you get to the car. Taco Bell and Whataburger are the only kids meals that have enough food to feed even a kid with. The kids are usually happier on the playground with a balonga sandwhich anyway. Half the time we went to a McDonalds that had a playground I had to force them to stop playing long enough to eat.
So your not unusual at all. Lots of folks can't or won't shell out the cost of a kids meal. Right now, the only chain I know of that uses all American beef is Whataburger. Not sure what McDonalds uses but at least half of it aint cow.
Even if it was strange. What works for you is what counts and your kids are probably happier and better adjusted not having the kids meals.

I rarely went there as a kid and I hardly ever go now. They don't have anything there I can eat anyway. They do have a veggie burger at McD's in Cali and some other countries, but not here in DC. They have good fries, but that doesn't make a meal. They have decent a decent side salad and fruit & walnut salad, but other than that... NOPE. I really have no idea why that place is so popular.

I dont think its wierd at all. I think it has been 4 years or so since I last ate at a mcdonalds. I dont look down on people if they eat there, its just not my choice. At least they are starting to offer "healthier" choices than they had in the past like salads and yogurt.

I'm happy to say I haven't been there in at least a year, either. It's not good quality food, it doesn't taste that great, and it's not good for you for the most part. I'm VERY happy to hear that your kids don't care to be McDon-ified, either. So many parents just choose fast food because it's quick and sort of inexpensive. Kids need to learn about making healthy choices, and McDonalds isn't one of the healthiest... Of course, my TV's been unplugged for 6 months, too. You should see the looks I get from my 3rd grade students AND their parents when they find that out! They want to know what I do without television. (My gosh, I read!)

I hate McDonalds- I avoid it like the plague, mostly because I'm a vegetarian and they don't have a whole bunch of things that I can eat. I can't remember the last time that I ate there.....Maybe 2 years ago...only by necessity.

I have not eaten mcdonalds in over twenty years. I just refuse! in fact i was on a road trip once and we had not eaten for over 10 hours but the first place we came across was a mcdonalds and I kept driving another hour just to get anything else.

It is been many years since I ate at McDonald's other than an ice cream cone or a milk shake, maybe coffee. I am a vegetarian so they have nothing for me.
Burger King at least has a veggie burger.

Personally, I can't stand it, however just out of my contempt for political correctness, just down the street from McD's here, there is a burger joint the not only serves beer, but Kangaroo,Buffalo,alligator,caribou, and even Yak, it's now one of my favorite stops with the grandkids.
