I would keep the million dollars and spend a little of it at a time. I would not trust the authorities. They would divvy it up and spend it themselves. Besides any idiot that would tote around a million dollars and lost it deserves to lose it.

I wouldn't turn it over to the authorities because I don't trust them either. However, I would make every effort to find the owner. I'd be tickled just with the finders fee.
However, now that I am thinking about it, nobody loses a million dollars except maybe in the stock market. It must be drug money, organized crime money, or worse. In that case, I'd be watching my back for some criminal that spotted me picking it up.

I wouldnt turn it over to the authorities. I would probably run an ad saying $ found at so and so location, call to claim.. without telling the amount of course. If someone claimed it i'd give it back and hope they'd give a little reward money. In the mean time, I'd play with it , drool on it and take pictures of it. BUT if no one claimed it I'd spend it.

That is a hard one, I think I would first find an agency that if no one claimed the million dollars that I could get it back. Then I would probably talk to a lawyer about what kind of taxes and such are needed for such a large find.

If someone lost a million dollars I'm pretty sure they would be looking for it with all the means at their disposal. It probably would be a sure thing that they would be able to narrow down to a very small area where it was lost. They then would watch very carefully for any suspicious activity. Unless you are one very cool cucumber, you would most likely betray yourself to their trained observations. Then they would prosecute you.
So no, I wouldn't keep it.
Okay, maybe just a little.

I would keep it for the time being, and if there are no reports on the news about the missing cash (I'm sure such a large amount missing would be publicized somehow) I would save it and use it little by little when I need it most.

I'd deposit it in several accounts throughout the country, in alias names, and then I'd alert the media to a "tip" of an anonymous person who has started a charity group, who are so wealthy, and want to remain anonymous-THEN, I'd have each and EVERY cent deposited directly to a Children's Cancer Hospital that is in desperate need of funds, and then I would re-alert the media to the "tip" and MAKE SURE every cent went towards the hospital, the children, and the children's families who are in need of financial funds to maintain the heartbreaking ordeal they are enduring. THATS what I'd do-If you'd have asked 10 yrs ago, I'd have started my Lamborghini Auto Shop, bought all materialistic things that are useless in light of my response NOW.
