causes me to gain weight? I'm not extremely fat or anything, but it seems that I eat right, exercise and I can't ever seem to keep a low weight. The second I lose a good amount of weight, I keep it off for a few months then gain it all RIGHT back. I don't think it's my diet or exercise routine, either. I'm very good at knowing what is and is not right for my body.

Insulin resistance can make it extremely difficult to loose and keep off weight. I've just found out I am insulin resistant. Usually that's also a precursor to diabetes. A lot of people whom have fat around the midsection have insulin resistance or prediabetes.

Another thing that can also cause you to gain weight is a thyroid problem.

Your best bet is to speak with your dr. about this. They can run tests and rule out either of these conditions and maybe pinpoint what might be the culprit.

There is also a metabolic disorder that can have simular symptoms.

I use to do the same thing, Have your thyroid checked. Its just a simple blood test. And dont worry, 9 times out of 10 just need to take a simple pill everyday for the rest of your life. Ive been doing it for 14yrs. After I was on the pill for 13 days I started loosing weight with no problems. If its not your thyroid maybe the doctor can give you some ideas on how to help you.

It could just be your metabolism, but yes there are some conditions that can cause weight gain. Hypothyroidism is a main one, but normally there is more drastic weight gain than your desribing. It'd be best to consult your doctor about it.
