The police are above the law so no you cant really use that as a bargaining chip. I don't think it's illegal to carry them though, cause it's not harmful or anything. If you are going a little too fast and you see a cop, decelerate relatively quickly as the rapid deceleration can mess up the reading. Either way, always ask to know the speed he clocked you at. If it's the speed you think you were going then don't try to fight it but if he's off by more than 5-10 mph, ask to see the reading. If they can't produce proof that you were going that speed then technically they can't write you a lawful ticket. If they still give you a ticket, then you can take it to court.

Well if he is going the other way then there are 2 things you can do. When he turns around to catch you and wants to give you a ticket, not only can you tell him he was speeding in the other direction too, but you can give him a ticket for making an illegal U turn! Then remember that you get 1 phonecall.

Well first of all, I believe it IS illegal in Ohio to have a radar gun in the car. I know it IS illegal to have a device in your car that operates on those frequencies. Actually I think it's a federal law since it's governed by the FCC.

Second of all, sure you can stop a police officer and tell them their speeding. Police are not above the law.

Are you going to track the speed of ambulances, too? Just suppose that if you catch a police car speeding, that the officer is doing his job and is on his way to help someone...maybe a burglary call or a traffic accident...why not let them do their jobs and you do yours.

The handheld Doppler Radar units available for civilian use are not designed for highway traffic use. Carrying it in your vehicle affords no penalty. However, using it in a manner in which it was not designed could indeed violate city ordinances or state laws. In short, I would advise against the mischief you referred to in your post. I hope this helps.

It is equipment you are allowed to have. The best you could do would be to keep records and consistently report the individual or alert the state troopers as they will arrest anyone even the Pope.

Wow. I never thought of that. Trying to fight a ticket..WITH a counter ticket. Yuppers...I'm sure that'll work REAL nice.
Now all you have to do is find a cop with alcohol on his breath and you can drive drunk!!
