Any religion that paints a black & white picture of right and wrong sets the scene for bloodshed because it becomes too easy to take advantage of natural human xenophobic tendancies.
It's important to note that this doesn't affect every member of any religion. There are peaceful, loving Christians, Muslims, Jews, etc. It's the extremists that are the problem. These people see the world as a battleground between good and evil and are dead-set to bring about conformity to their way of thinking. Conformity is the only thing that gives them security.
And then, of course, there are the rich people of the world that are willing to use religion (or politics or anything else) to stir the masses and get them to accept and/or fight the wars. This has been the case throughout history. As long as people don't scrutinize the motives of their political and economic leaders, this trend will continue.

Actually, we're all about even on the human suffering and misery. Islam has dished out plenty of suffering and death, not only among the infidel but among their own--Torquemada had no patent on religious intolerance.
But in answer to your question--because people have free will, and they are often misguided, or using the parade of religious fervor to pursue their own ego-drives. Historically, that has been an almost unassailable shield for prosecuting intolerances for which God will definitely demand an accounting. If you claim to be serving your religion, you not only cya, you tend to have a built-in defense against anyone who questions or disagress with what you're doing.

*sigh* questions like this are asked every 15 minutes here... if you havent gotten the answer yet, you wont ever. There have been some wars and killings in the name of Christianity but NONE of these people were acting Christlike.... Dont you know that every day thousands of people are murdered by people of other religions or lack of religion? Why dont you ask that?

The religion is not responsible for this suffering and death; the men who do these things are responsible for their actions, regardless of which religion they tout.

Christianity was never about the teachings of Jesus that leads to true salvation but rather it's intent is to rule the world through spiritual enslavement!

I don't know. I don't get it either. The people who are fighting and calling themselves Christians are so full of hate, I wonder if they really are Christians?
We are taught to be peaceful, yet they fight, I'm with you, I don't honestly know. God's way isn't like the world's way, yet.........it's a bummer.
