Actually in his prime I think Roy Jones would outpoint Chris Byrd by a large margin. Byrd is an awkward fighter and may be able to keep a good defense for a while but not at a level of a Hopkins and couldn't have the same offensive output of a James Toney of whom Roy Jones beat both. I think Jones might even have knocked Byrd out in the latter rounds but I think the first four rounds would be uneventful. A lot of blocking and bobbing and weaving. I wouldnt think it would be a fight of the year but I may be wrong.

If you want to see this fight watch RJJ vs Eric Harding. Eric fights alot like Byrd. He gave RJJ alot of trouble, and even won a few rounds but in the end RJJ just pot shotted him to death.
I think Byrd was never that great a fighter. I give him credit for fighting up in weight all those years, but he almost got killed by Ibeabuchi and looked TERRIBLE against Fres Oquendo and DaVarrell Williamson of all people. But OK lets say that Byrd is in his prime, even then RJJ is way too fast in his prime and once Roy realizes that the feather fisted Byrd can't hurt him, Roy opens up big time. It would be very ungly, one-sided decision for RJJ.

Chris Byrd wins easily. I love Roy, but he's a middleweight and past his prime. he got pounded by Antonio Tarver. Roy should stay in the booth and out of the ring.

Byrd, although he doesn't have much power for a heavy weight he is still a true heavy weight and Roys chin is suspect

Well, I hope Roy Jones wins because he's from my hometown, but I just don't know if he can pull it off anymore. Here's an article on him from today's local paper http://www.pensacolanewsjournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060725/SPORTS/607250334/1002
