The only people who think it would or should be brought back have never been in the military or studied military history. Conscript forces ALWAYS perform poorly compared to volunteer forces. Period. They have higher rates of disciplinary actions, higher rates of failure under fire and more incidents of "friendly fire"... There are a LOT of people who did not come back from the war in SE Asia because some draftee lost it and shot someone in the back.

The draft scare is just that. The only case where it would be used is if America was invaded en mass while our primary forces were occupied elsewhere.

NO!!! Barring all unforeseen circumstances beyond our control,
the US Defense Department does NOT want a draft because the all-volunteer force is adequate at this time.

Yes. It should be. Our troops have been so stretched. These soldiers have been locked in and have to do more time over seas than they should have, too. It should go back to the way it used to be. All soldiers should only have to do one tour of duty. But this time everyone's children should have to serve their country. Not just the commoners children.
