I'm a dental assistant, once a day, before you go to bed is the best time, but as long as you do it once a day that's fine,

Floss your teeth at least twice a day. Once in the morning after breakfast, before going to school or work.(Also floss after lunch, especially if the food has a tendency to get caught between the teeth) The best time to floss is just before bedtime,at night. Brush your teeth after you floss, rinse with mouthwash---don't forget to brush your tongue, too. Source: 53 year old person without cavities or fillings and most dental hygienist acquaintances....Try to have your teeth professionally cleaned at least twice a year. Dentist should see your teeth and gums at least once a year.

I just asked the dentist the same question. He told me you only need to brush once a day (never thought I'd hear that from a dentist) and floss once a day (preferably at night). As stated previously, it takes 24 hours for plaque to become tartar so it is necessary to floss every day. Once the tartat builds up, it is really gross and can lead to serious gum disease and can weaken the bones in your jaw. Not pretty I'm sure - keep flossing!

as often as brushing.the reason for flossing is to clean the area where your toothbrush cannot reach-that is in between the teeth.

Once per day, at the least. Once in the morning and once again at night is preferable. This will go a long way in keeping your teeth and gums healthy and strong.
