"A certain man of Bethlehem-judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab". Moab was not very far away from Bethlehem. In fact, you could see Moab from Bethlehem. Moab was across the Jordan and the Dead Sea from Bethlehem. To get to Moab from Bethlehem, one had to travel only twenty to thirty miles. This was not a long trip like the one Abraham took to Egypt in a time of famine. This was a very short trip.
