Hi

I hope to travel to New Zealand next year on a working holiday visa with a view to maybe living there for a few years. I did the whole Australia thing 2 years ago and people who I spoke to said they preferred NZ. As I still have the travel bug I think it is only right that I give New Zealand a go.

Is Auckland the place to get all the office jobs? How much on average would I pay for rent?

Its all pretty relative. Auckland is the largest business center in the country, but of course living costs tend to be higher there. And again, that depends on which part of Auckland you choose to reside.

I live just outside of Auckland and enjoy a rural lifestyle, with much of my work in either Auckland or Hamilton. Being an employer I have to agree with the statement that tax is too high. But most people do quite well regardless... Many people here own their own home fairly young etc (recent article quoted a study which endorsed that observation with results showing NZ was one of the highest countries per capita to own homes)..

One of the reasons Kiwis like Aussie is that their government is quite a bit more sympathetic tax wise with pretty attractive incentives for businesses etc and of course that has a flow on affect...

Come have a look around, there are many sights and attractions and we are by and large a fairly friendly lot. And as I say, I stay because of the lifestyle....

i've worked and travelled around new zealand and it was great, i worked in christchurch but i was waitressing so i'm not sure about office jobs. in general rent and general living costs are relativly cheap in nz although Wellington is a bit more expensive and i think that Aukland is too. new zealand is a great place and i'd definatly sugest that you see as much of it as you can while your there. for a real taste of new zealand life you might be better getting a job in a smaller place as i think it might give a truer reflection than Aukland. one word of warning - the tax rate is very high!!

what form of existence-sort do you want? i comprehend of a pair of human beings from the united kingdom who stay in remoted or places out of my city only because they can and prefer it. different human beings want the cities, others want a rural city etc. in case you want a good city, the significant ones are all ok i wager, yet I want Christchurch as its the 2d best interior the country so it has quite some issues to provide and isn't any longer too some distance from some brilliant surroundings eg west coast is barely 3 or so hours away or to ski fields eg Mt hutt, there are the port Hills/Banks penisular which has mountain cycling, walks etc. the elements is more effective than the united kingdom having more effective nicer days ( and warm ones interior the summer season) yet getting some southrly storms interior the iciness, a unload of snow in line with twelve months and frosts ( with a sprint of smog)...yet its nonetheless sturdy for the most section compared to the united kingdom and places added south. I stay interior the South Island and function for lots of my existence ( residing in Marlborough, Christchurch, Oamaru, close to Franz Josef Glacier) besides as a pair of years interior the united kingdom ( and 6months in south auckland which we can not talk). in case you want a smaller city with good climate then Nelson is outstanding as its on the water compared to the smaller Blenheim ( the position I stay). It has a pair of nationwide parks ( able tasman and kahurangi), walks, beachs ( eg kaiteriteri is outstanding!), the Marlbrough Sounds are especially brilliant too! As I suggested it relies upon on what you're looking for for as smaller places gained't specialized jobs and different parts have different industires eg , viticulture, agriculture, horticulture, indusrty etc. more effective information might want to be large.
