Initually the newborn crys becasue they have suddenly come out of living in water, breathing in water and being in the external world they the trap door that rerouts the blood through the heat and makes the lungs open the lungs wide to take in air. The first breath which is a good healthy cry.
The baby doesn't know words they figure out real fast they get attention when they cry. As time goes on a mother can usually tell what sort of cry goes with what they need. There is the I am hungry - feed me. Another cry means I am uncomfortable. Another cry is just a tired cry. Another one is I need my mommie cr

Babies need to cry to communicate. You can tell what is wrong by how a baby cries too. There is the bored whimper, to the panicked scream which will make you drop everything and bound up stairs two at a time.

It's all just a matter of listening.

They cry because it is the only form of communication they have. Sometimes they are too hot or cold, hungry or thirsty, bored, tired, uncomfortable, dirty or wet. Sometimes they are teething or gassy. Sometimes they just want to be cuddled. The best thing to do is to respond to their cry. It saves a great headache and helps you to be more in tuned with what they want or need. Just go over your list of things they could be upset over if you can't find anything wrong and they still cry uncontrollably you need to inform their pediatrician. Ear infections are a common cause of discomfort and require antibiotics.

Lots of reasons...hungry, uncomfortable, sick, in pain, scared, lonely, confused, its the only way they have of communicating anything to people since they don't have any language skills yet. In no time they do figure out that when they cry someone comes running and lots of them do it just for that. Some are more fussy than others, we actually thought one of mine was mute because he NEVER cried, if he got upset or hungry he just kicked his feet, he has a voice and is just fine he was just an exceptionally peaceful child, others seem to cry ALL the time.

cuz they are helpless and it lets people know they need some form of attention like diaper change, food, sleep, etc....they cant communicate with words yet so they cry..they know when they do it they almost always get a response...thats why all people cry lol u can tell if u see a person crying that something is wrong or they need something. cuz it makes them cute lol.

With the thought of going to school later and to do homework, to grow up and face unemployment, to have relationship with opposite sex which sucks, to breed kids and watch them cry - ohhhh so many reasons and these thoughts make them cry. Of course, they cant tell you, as they do not know the language to express.

Babies cry because they want to be held, spoken to, they need
their diaper changed, fed. It's their way of letting you know what
want or need. It's how they communicate to you.

either they're hungry, teething, gassy, they have a dirty diaper, cranky, tired or they just want to be held. babies just cry as a way of vocalizing every situation until they learn to talk, then they whine until they move out
