Apple cider vinegar has long been recommended for gout. The usual dose is about 1 tablespoon in a cup of water, repeating as often as you can. But I have to tell you that it has never worked for me. I have given in to official medicine, which offers some really effective drugs. Indomethicin may come from a factory, but it is a godsend as far as I'm concerned. So, try the apple cider vinegar (some people recommend eating cherries first, then following with the vinegar). If it works for you, great. If no, get a prescription. Good luck, and I hope this helps.

Everyone has their own natural remedies for everything. I worked at a vitamin store for quite sometime so I've heard alot of them. Alcohol is probably one of the main reasons for gout. So if that's the problem slack off on that. Not eating as many dairy products helps I think. And drink black cherry juice.. It does something with the uric acid I believe. I just know I used to sell alot of it for that purpose.

Gout is caused by a buildup of uric acid in the body. Uric acid can eventually crystallize and collect in the joints. This causes the sever pain associated with this condition.
Foods to avoid:
liver
red meats (beef especially)
shellfish (scallops, oysters)
rich cream sauces
red wine & alcohol
Alcohol interferes with your liver's ability to process uric acid, so it is very important to avoid it. Certain medications can also contribute to gout, consult your physician to find out more.

If you want to eliminate all gout flare-ups, you need to remove the uric acid from your body. An acidic body is a sick body. You need to make it alkaline again by taking phytonutrients, flavenoids and polysaccharides. I have found great success with this.

you can't have beer, alcohol, or seafood I think it is. You cant eat food with a certain acid in it, because your body cannot get rid of it, so it goes in your joints and it is very very painful.

I was a victim of increased uric acid in my blood and it was diagnosed during August 1999, when my great toe of right leg swelled red and the pain was unbearable. The disease is known as Gout and when the uric acid is not controlled in the blood, it gives lots of pain and agony to the joints such as great toes, ankles, knees, elbows and other joints of the body. The uric acid crystals get their place especially in joints and they damage the kidneys also when not treated on time. I have visited many Allopathic doctors for a best cure but they had nothing except for Allopurinol tablets (expels uric acid), ranitidine (controls acidity) and finally different kind of pain killers. The pain some time subsided and some time came back. I did not believe doctors after taking their advice and medicines for few weeks and started searching for the main root cause. I was happy to get a quick answer to know that it is due to improper eating, drinking and sedentary habits where the metabolism rate slows down. Immediately, I kept myself on strict diet of one pulse only (It is called Moong Daal in India which is easily digested) without adding oil and spices. For vegetables, I took only bitter gourd and lady finger, fried on fry pan adding few drops of cooking oil, few cut pieces of onion, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt to taste. I gave up even rice products completely. I ate only Indian bread (Chapaties) made out of wheat flour. I had stopped consuming milk, yoghurt and butter milk totally. All sour fruits, pickles and other eatables of sour nature were not in my menu. I used to take carrots, radish and cucumber for salad. Fruits like watermelon and muskmelon were always in my diet. I used to drink at least 10 litres of water daily to expel uric acid. This lasted for almost 9 months and I could reduce my weight drastically. I used to take tablet Allopurinal/100 mg thrice a day with water after meal to expel uric acid and tablet Ranitidine/150 mg thrice a day with water after meal to control acidity. I took pain killers (Diclofenac Sodium/50mg plus Paracetamol/500mg) also whenever I needed to get rid of pain. The pain slowly subsided and I felt better but I used to feel a little pain in my left knee. Due to the uric acid and severe pain, I could not wear shoes for almost one year and remained on slippers only. Since, the pain still existed in my left knee, I started taking one tablet of Spirulina/500mg daily and my knee pain vanished within a month. I took Spirulina tablets for almost three years without fail. From August 1999 onwards, my smoking and drinking drastically came down to minimum and on 31st December 1999, I completely gave up smoking, drinking and non-vegetarian food. From January 2000, I started meditating regularly and this helped me a lot. In August 2000, I went for six different blood tests and all the reports were negative. Today, it is almost seven years passed and with the grace of God, I do not have any symptom of Gout with increased uric acid and eat all vegetables, pulses, fruits, and drink milk, eat yoghurt and drink butter milk also. There is no better cure for Gout with excessive uric acid without changing your dietary habits. Please follow the above precaution and drink lots of water essential to expel uric acid. Drinking 100ml French bean juice and boiled barley water daily is very beneficial in controlling uric acid. If not treated early, it becomes Gouty Arthritis where fingers and hands start bending due to uric acid present in the joints and the pain remains constant. If constipated, correct your bowel movement. In this disease, the digestive enzymes die totally due to sedentary habits and eating disorders. The metabolism slows down. You can take digestive enzymes available in the market to improve metabolism rate. Ayurvedic medicines also play an important role to combat this disorder. I have taken lots of efforts to help since I understand your sufferings. If you trust my words and wish to know more, you can write to me on close2health@yahoo.com. Take care and be in good health.
