I participated in a paranormal expedition, and I realized that the leader of the group is the poster boy for an exploiter. Most people researching the paranormal leave an air of skeptiscism in order not to skew the reality of their evidence. But this person does not, they all dive head first and believe fully that all their evidence has no earthly explanation. How do I help these people see that this ring leader is taking their money and he is not the real deal?

This guy's not a religious leader, he's the leader of a Paranormal investigation group but he doesn't follow professional practices. He instead uses his own form of Hodge Podge magick without any knowledge.

The worst part is that he charges for most of his events.

Given an even playing field, the truth always wins out over the lie.
Psychological studies have proven, over and over, that if there is even one, lone dissenter in a group, that one can win over many if their reasoning is sound. Without at least one voice in opposition, even the ridiculous can be accepted....

Be the lone voice.

Take them to a more scientifically-oriented group, perhaps? Show them a more logical approach. Of course many of them might not actually care, and actually want that kind of mindless enthusiasm. Sad, I know, but that's why we still have religion today, most people don't really want to know.
