psw's are in great demand and you can go to a community college for it. My step-son did and now works at 3 different nursing homes. all ranging from $13.50-18.00 per hr.

There will always be a demand for LPN's and If you feel that is what you want to do then go ahead on with it. I currently work as a Nurse Technician and am in my senior year in the BSN program at the university that I attend. It really is better that if eventually you want a RN licence that you should pursue that. It is not easy, but I know that is well worth it. Also try going to the web pages of the different hospitals and look at the job positions that are available for nursing. You will see that LPN's are needed, but there are more jobs available for RN's. The pay is much better as well. In the hospital that I work at LPN's and RN's do the exact same thing. The only thing is the difference in pay based upon the amount of education you have recieved. Make it worth your while!

In oz- mostly LPN's work in nursing homes. They do work in hospitals but usually as the cna on the floor.
Go straight through and get your RN if you are thinking about school.

Good Luck!
