White wine is usually honking , the only exception being an expensive Chablis, and believe me you have to pay for the quality. Red wine is the future. Have a few glasses of this and you will realise that white wine is for the under 30's. Not too controversial for you I hope!

Est Est Est! Lovely Italian wine. The best white I ever had was in Greece and the hotel owner's brother made it locally. I've never tasted wine like it before or since.

Thunderbird.

What's the word? Thunderbird!

Or any 5-6 dollar 13+% chardonnay.

Montes Alpha Chardonnay

Absolutely fantastic chilean wine. (though I don't think Aurelio Montes knows how to make bad wine... I've tried several red and white wines he produces and they are all fantastic)

Their Classic Sauvignon blanc is also very good... but for any special occasion or any excuse... it has to be "the alpha"!

(my hats off to velascoandres and fleur-bleue)

- blanc pessac (chateau carbonnieux) (bordeaux sauvignon blanc)(i like any sauvignons with minerality and grapefruit character rather than grassy herbaceousness)
- savennieres (nicolas joly coulee de serrant) (loire chenin blanc, and a biodynamic wine)
- gerwurztraminer (lean more to new world than alsace)

and in general:
- white rhone style blends
- all white italian varietals
- german riesling (spatlese and sweeter)
- barzac (poor man's sauternes), vin santo, etc
- both malolactic, sur-lie "cali style" chards and unoaked white burgundies (get tired of one style, then switch to the other for awhile, then back again)(one chard that defied either general style was from Armida -- seemed downright floral on the nose, almost gewruz-like)

Recioto di Soave
Cortese di Gavi
