Yes, I know I asked this last week, but I'm giving others who may have missed it or haven't answered already a shot at telling their story.

My parents forced me to get a buzzcut in third grade (back when I had hair; see avatar) b/c I made fun of a kid in class who had one.

How about the rest of you? Did a parent/guardian/relative force you as punishment, because they thought it would look cute, or any other reason?

Well, my story is kind of on that level. I was about 4 years old and had hair past my butt. My mom would put it in pig tails and braids. She loved it. Anyway, she left me at my aunt's house for the day and my cousin cut one of my pigtails off while I slept. My mom cried and cut the other one off too. She took me to a beauty shop and they could do nothing with it but give me a "chili bowl". I looked like a boy for a long time....

When I was a kid, my mom was so thrilled about having daughters that she dressed us up in the laciest frilliest dresses she could find and we were FORBIDDEN to get our hair cut. It wasn't a religous thing or anything, just her rule. When I was 9 all my friends had bangs and I wanted them too. So I grabbed some scissors and hacked away. I actually didn't do too bad of a job. A little uneven but the length and thickness I wanted. I wanted long and thin. When my mom found out she told me (exact words) "you want bangs huh? At least cut them right", and proceeded to cut a thick layer way above my eyebrow. I looked like an idiot!!!!!
From then on until I was about 16 and able to trim them myself, I had the moron bangs.

U wanna know what probably really bugs her is now I have long hair and no bangs just like she wanted when I was a child.

I'm a rebel, what can I say? LOL

I was forced to have a burr haircut until I was in the 7th grade. I hated it back then as it was in the late 60's and early 70's when long hair was really in. Funny thing is though that once I pursuaded my parents to let me grow it out, I kept it long for about 6 or 7 years then went back to a crewcut. But it was my choice to do it.

I had really long hair when I wa young. My mom would sit and brush it every night and I would say Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. the whole time. (she wasn't gentle and I think she rather enjoyed hearing me yell ouch).. One night she got a "tone" and said "I'm tired of hearing you complain about how much it hurts you.. I'll teach you to say ouch!!!" ... (I LOVED MY LONG HAIR... and have suffered since then trying to grow it out and afraid to in fear it will be cut off again..so once it gets to a certain length..I cut it.. but now since she has died.. I can grow it and over come the damage...) ANYWAY.... she put my hair up in a tight rubberband and HACKED it off where the rubberband hit the scalp. And that's the hair cut I had to live with. There was no "evening it out". no "styling it". It was the HAIRCUT FROM THE DEPTHS OF (I don't cuss.. so I say scooby-doo) SCOOBY-DOO !!!!!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO the trauma.... i lived for years with VERY short hair.. ultra short.. just so it wouldn't happen again by anyone.. and now you ask ? I am SUCCESSFULLY growing my hair out.. WWEEEEHA!!!! and boy.. I LOOK HOT !!!!

Good question! I am forever damaged by the "two finger" rule above my eyebrows for trimming my bangs AND they she used pinking sheers! I think she thought it was cute, but I sware she just didn't want the "boys" to look at me. It was in the days of the Pixie haircut. I looked like a doofus.

It's all simply a matter of personal preference. We have short hair and guys like it. And i prefer a man with short hair over a man with long hair because long hair tends to make guys look too girly.

not necessarily a hair cut because, well, I don't remember caring, BUT...I remember my mom putting these ENORMOUS, UGLY, GIGANTIC 80's looking bows on my sister's and mine, hair. We hated it, but hey, what could we do.

She also gave my brother a haircut once too. and everyone called him a monk, for about a month.

My mom always made me wear my hair short when I wanted long, flowing locks. She also made me sit down and have it curled in the morning. Stupid 80s short hair.
