A few years ago we bought what we thought was a 1994 Blazer, only it turned out to be a 1993. It seemed ok: lots of room, etc. On a family trip out of state, it started making some bad noises. Turned out that the engine was going: it threw a rod (not sure what that means, but my husband said it shouldn't have happened in a vehicle that was only five or six years old...it was a used one). Not a great experience. He has always liked Chevys, but now is a bit leery of their supposed "great quality." And we bought it at a dealership, not through a person.

I can put you in touch with at least a half dozen people who had to replace the fuel injectors on their Blazers. Ask about that part in particular, whether it's original or has it been replaced. This one little item can cost upwards of six hundred dollars alone if it needs to be replaced. You know, it may even be more than that now. Also, take this vehicle for a test drive and drive it straight to a mechanic you trust. Have him give it the once over before you make any decision. Good luck.

I have a friend that just got rid of one, same year model. She never had any problems at all with it until she forgot to check the fluid levels. All in all I think it's a good truck, i have a 91 blazer myself, and being as old as it is you wouldn't think it was reliable. I've never had any major problems out of it, and I absolutely love it.
