I have a 6 year old son that I financially supported on my own for past 6 years. His father is in his life and sometimes gets him two weeks out of the month, but it is not court ordered. The older my son gets the more it costs to care for him. I need to think of a way to get him to pay me child support without going through the courts. He also has another child on the way who will be in the home. I don't want it to seem like I'm just imposing this because he has a child on the way, but I have shoes, uniforms, childcare and medical insurance to pay for monthly.

Ask the father for help and if he doesn't want to then go to the courts. They will establish a child support order. He still has the option of not paying. If he still wont pay then you can go through child support enforcement were the automatically garnish his wages. A court order will protect your son.

you should take him to court now before the new baby is born because after the court willl take that into account. I know you want to be fair but life isn't your child was here first and things are getting more expensive. If he hasn't already been giving you money then the court needs to make him

You should have gone through the courts from the beginning. If he hasn't offered to pay, he probably won't even if you beg him. You may have to go through the courts, and they will decide on an amount. In fact, since he has another kid on the way, it will probably be your only option. Sorry....
