you gotta have a license, it makes you feel really secure about driving, because you know that the police cant really f with you. I can totally understand you though, I'm a singer and I can sing for everybody really well, I even write and record songs in the studio, but when I go to an audition I can never sing well, it's so frustrating to me, I dont know what to do. The power of the brain is amazing, and in this aspect, irritating.

OK, if you failed behind the wheel three times, maybe you shouldn't be driving.
First off, do you take it seriously? If you truly want to drive, you have to want to become a good driver. Ask people you know, your parents, relatives, siblings, friends, if they can take you out driving. Have them drive you out to the middle of the country and let you take over. Once you get comfortable driving on a straight stretch of road, try some curvy roads. Once you have that nailed, try driving in a small town with stop signs and maybe a few stop lights. Once you are comfortable (Read: When you stop hitting the curbs and stop signs) THEN drive in the city.
The test at the DMV is not the place to learn how to drive. By the time you take your test, you should be comfortable behind the wheel of the car.
If you can't pass the DMV test, you shouldn't be on the road. It's not just about you driving like your friends. It's about that other driver. The Mini Van with the kids in the back seat. If you cause a wreck because you can't drive, you may kill someone.

If you are going to drive you need a license. No license, no insurance. I don't want you on the road with me! If you freeze up, than you are not self confident enough to take the test. Many people do not get a drivers license until they are middle aged. I have a sister who is 50 that is unlicensed because she does not want the costs involved with owning and maintaining a car. She lives in an urban area and takes public transportation. If you think you are in a race with others for development than you sound to childish to assume the responsibility of car ownership and driving. Just wait and you will not be sorry.

I think it depends on the state, and what type of drivers training you had, but I never had to do a driving test at the DMV. I had to do a written test, and had 2 weeks of driving with my parents in the car before that, but no actual road test with the DMV.
That was back in 1994. For our school's drivers training, though, we did 1 week of classes all day (I took summer driving lessons, not during school), then 3 days of training in a car on a training area (our school's parkinglot transformed with cones), then 3 days of road driving with the instructor and 2 other kids. After that, I got my permit which lasted at least 2 weeks (My parents made me wait 4 because I was at dance camp for 2 of the weeks), then I was eligable to get my license.
All we did was take a test at the DMV, and then get it tested. Once it was tested, I was given a paper license to wait till my actual license came.

License gives you the independence to move about. When taking the test don't worry about the examiner. Concentrate on the road. It feels like you are more concerned about the examiner. Good Luck.
