Have you ever read the history of the Bible?
Apparently, at the time of Constantine, there were a whole bunch of RELIGIOUS TEXTS which were developed by the Christian communities around the known world. These were considered, and some were included and some were banned from the bible. I really like the LOST BOOKS OF THE BIBLE more than some of the included scriptures.
We are ONLY HUMAN. People cared a great deal about Christ and about religion, but who can say they have all the answers? God and God alone. Even the original Gospels were written long after the death of Christ, and people have problems remembering everything exactly. And, I suspect that people USED the scriptures to advance their own political goals. For example, there is evidence that Jesus left Mary Magedeline in charge of continuing his preachings. But, the Christian church wanted to be MALE DOMINATED and left out the Gospel of Mary.
Do you want to tell me that WOMEN are INFERIOR to men because that is what the Bible seems to tell us? I think women and men are equals, and today people often leave their earthly possessions to their spouse. Jesus was very progressive, and I suspect that he did the same back 2000 years ago.
I am not saying that YOU ARE WRONG. I am merely saying that I disagree with your point of view. God will decide who is right in Heaven.
I do believe that the Bible is LARGELY divinely inspired. That is different than the LITERALIST interpretation that it is 100 percent the Word of God. You are entitled to your opinion, and I respect it greatly.

Perhaps the following makes reasonable sense to you, but I'd call it circular reasoning and thus an error:
"The Bible is the word of God. I know this because it says that God wrote it. God would never lie. The Bible tells me so. So when God says in the Bible that He wrote the Bible I believe him."
The reason I don't believe the Bible is the word of any god is that there's no evidence that it is anything other than the words of a lot of people trying to found and codify a religion.

Dear, you have no proof. "Proof" is not that the Bible says it is so, so then it is so.
If we all thought that way, then the Harry Potter books mean that wizards really exist...
Because the Bible SAYS it was inspired by God doesnt mean that it is....it means that whoever wrote the Bible was smart enough to write that into it, so as to cover any people that might question it. It is complete circular logic. Your only proof is faith, and faith is the belief in something with no proof.
Please please please read the book "The Jesus Papers." You might actually learn something about the history of the times that Jesus was born and raised into, and might get a better understanding of what exactly was going on. You will learn about the nature of the historical Jesus, not the Jesus of faith, who is nothing more than a myth created by the church.

The book of Mormon makes the exact same claim. So do Muslims and Hindus. Hell, the crazy drunk guy on the corner makes the same claim.
God's word, if god is perfect, should not be inconsistent. God's word, if God is good, should not be cruel. God's word, if God is all-knowing, shouldn't make false claims.
The bible does all these things. Cruelty, rape and murder abound. The bible makes scientific and historical claims we know to be false. The bible repeatedly contradicts itself in various places. Therefore, it follows it cannot come from the being Christians describe as god.
As to your proof, what exactly is that proof, pray tell? That you FEEL like its God's word? Mormon and Muslims feel exactly the same.
What an arrogant question you ask.

Lets do a little thinking. Anyone knowing anything about translating knows that when you translate from one language to another much is lost.
So now, why would the Deity reveal 2/3 of it's "inspired" word to us in an obscure language that only one nation (as opposed to the hundreds that existed then) knew and virtually no one knows today (before you point to the modern state of Israel, ancient Hebrew is VERY MUCH different from the modern Hebrew!!!)? And why would it give the rest of it's "inspired" word in a language that would die out within 500 years (again, modern Greek is so much different from the Koine Greek of the New Testament that it is like two different languages!!!)? Is the Deity that much of an idiot? If the Bible is Inspired, then we have lost probably 75% of the message through translations!!!

Hey... Im a Christian and I believe the Bible but I have to say that you cannot use the Bible to prove itself no more than an Atheist can use a book on Atheism to prove it is the truth.
If you have proof that the Bible is the Word of God aside from it saying so, it would be better to show that, than to say "The Bible clearly states that it is........"
What would you say to an Atheist who may say "Can you prove my book on Atheism isn't true? It clearly states in here that it is and I do have proof"?

If your proof that the Bible was inspired by God is the Bible itself that isn't proof. That's like saying that radio is something that you listen to the radio on.

The only proof you have is circular logic. Where's the proof that the Bible is the word of God? Why, in the Bible!
Very neat.

The Hero of the Bible says scripture is about Gods love, not mans excuses, how do you apply Gods love to your life and is this quest to prove mans excuses? The Hero also says by our example will others want to be like us. How can you be an example if you don't share your proof right now?
