Most of the time I prefer gatorade over the other two because soda is unhealthy (I dont drink it) and water is good, but gatorade has flavor. lol.
also, water doesnt have the electrolytes in it that gatorade does. But sometimes it depends on what I'm in the mood for too. I might just want a glass of cold water to clear my throat when I'm singing (I'm an actress).
But if I'm at cheerleading or softball, of course I'm going to drink gatorade.

Water through out the day... i try shooting for a gallon, less active people will need less than that. Gatorade is alright for pre and post workouts. Soda is all empty calories and has no nutritional value
