Doing the Lord's work is not the same thing as working to earn a living; otherwise the priest would just be running a business. I don't understand how anyone can just be a pastor, and not have any other vocation. My church leader devotes many hours a week to church service, but he also has a full-time job doing construction work. He does not get paid at all for his church service.
No one should be getting paid for doing the Lord's work. Service in the Kingdom of God should be 100% voluntary. The disciples of Jesus in the Bible also had "real" jobs, by which they earned a living. Jesus himself was a carpenter.
"Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind." (1Peter 5:2)

Actually the point is to worship God, which we should be doing all the time. By the way priests are Catholic and they don't follow the Bible too close anyway.

Jesus Himself gives us the answer: "Or haven't you read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple violate the Sabbath and yet are innocent?" (Matthew 12:5)

Sunday is not the Sabbath, Saturday is...look at your calendar. The Sabbath is the seventh day of the week.

Laborious work, yes, but ministerial work, no. They likely did what clergy do today and took another day off sometime during the week.

Maybe it is not considered work, but helping and leading others to worship. Don't know, but I'm not Christian.

Worshipping God is not work. It's what we're here to do.
Why worship? Because we become that which we worship.
