Here is an old recipe that has been handed down from my grandmother:

1 lb of bulk sausage (any flavor, but I love the HOT)
2 cans of Hungarian Kraut (caraway seeds in it)

Scramble sausage and cook thoroughly, add Kraut, mix well and heat all the way through.

Serve on top of Mashed Potatoes.

Very fast and inexpensive. I never have leftovers.

Here's 3 things I make with Sauer Kraut:

Ruebens
Corned Beef (I used canned and mix in mayonaise to your liking)
Swiss Cheese
Sauer Kraut
Rye Bread

Assemble Sandwich with top off -- place in 450 oven for 5 to ten minutes.

Pork Sauer Kraut Roast
Put a pork roast and sauer kraut in crock pot -- cook on low for about 8 hours

Kiebasa (sp?), Potatoes & Kraut
Pan fry slices of potatoes, Kiebasa (or Smoked Sausage), and sauer kraut in a large pan

Well, my mom and I like Sauer Kraut and ribs. You can take some country ribs and put them in a crock pot. Cover with water and add onions, seasoned salt, and a little pepper to taste. Let the ribs boil until tender. Then add your kraut (the shredded bottled or canned works the best - Busch's). Cook until kraut is soft. Enjoy!

Are you familiar with pirohi, the Slovak equivalent to Polish pierogi?
Prepare the sour kraut by washing in cold water. Drain. Mix with zaprashka, called rue, by Cajuns. Melt butter and brown flour in the melted butter
Make and roll out ordinary noodle dough. Cut into pockets like ravioli. stuff the pockets with sour kraut mix. Boil in water for about five minutes. Drain and serve in a bowl with melted butter drizzled on the pirohi.
This is also known as Slovak soul food.
Um, I am making my mouth water.

rueben sandwiches.

You'll need

rye bread
sliced corn beef
swiss cheese
saurkraut
thousand island dressing

spread dressing on bread
put a slice of the cheese on it(2 if they're small)
then the corn beef
then the saurkraut(make sure its drained)
then before you stick the second slice on it, spread the dressing on the inside of that slice too,
using butter, olive oil(the best) or whatever- fry in pan on both sides. Delicious!!!
