It would be a good idea to research digital cameras on the big store websites like circuitcity.com and bestbuy.com. There you will see all the makes, models and features and see which one works for you. I personally would recommend Kodak cameras as they offer quite a bit at a reasonable price. In general I would not recommend anything outside these brands: Sony, Kodak, Canon, HP, Samsung, Nikon.
Once you've decided on a make and model, you can search for a good deal on amazon.com, ebay.com, or at the stores you originally searched.....

i'm by no ability a digicam specialist, easily purely the alternative yet i'm always surprised at how large of photos my Kodak Z7590 takes. i do no longer imagine that variety remains on the marketplace besides the undeniable fact that the more moderen Z or DX fashions are all about a similar. they have better zoom than many 10x-12x, are a huge organisation, and decently priced. you should easily get one at properly less than $500 yet because you factor out you should spend $500 per chance you're looking for something somewhat extra. For $three hundred-$400 you should get the Kodak digicam with all upload-ons (dock, case, and so on) in case you want a good generic use digicam with a good zoom then i ought to pass with the Kodak.

No such animal. They don't test them. All are made in China.
Kodaks, Nikons, Canons, Fujis, Olympus, Sonys are the best.
Fuji, Olypums and Sony charge more for memory!
Sony and Cannon charge more for their names!
After that you're on your own! Consider getting an extended warranty from a reliable company. Wal Mart has one for like $23 for 3 years.

If you are looking for an SLR, I would recommend Nikon D70 Mine is great and its not that expensive used right now looking at $1700-2000 with lens(es) I've used a few brands but now I'm pretty loyal to Nikon, they make good cameras.

Everyone in my family has a Kodak Easyshare, and it is beloved by all! Tip: pick a camera with the most megapixels you can find, anything over 6. Makes for better quality pictures.

Try Consumer reports. They are very reputable and are unbiased because they take no funding from outside companies. Or I think you can buy their book. Anywhere that sells books should have them.
